The First Night at The Lost Knight

It had been six months since I started learning the guitar and writing my own songs with it…

It had been three months since I’d first heard of the open mic night at The Lost Knight in Silverlake and, for the first time, thought, maybe one day…

It had been a week since I had decided that I was going to lock in January 2 as my official first time participating…

It had been a day since I could really eat anything or focus on anything without that sick, excited feeling welling up inside me…

It had been three hours since I walked into the room, forcing myself to believe that it was okay for me to be there…

It had been ten minutes since I’d heard my name called as third in line and stepped into the back room to tune and receive some unexpected but very welcome encouragement from new friends…

…when this happened…

It took another ten  minutes once I stepped off stage to calm my full-body shaking, and I’m still in a bit of disbelief today that it really happened.  But the video is there, and now I can’t wait to do it again.

Here’s to taking risks, believing in yourself, letting others encourage you along the way, and having fun doing what you love.

Keep dreaming y’all, and don’t let those catalysts wait.

PS – if you’re looking for a great place to meet and hear fantastic musicians and share some music of your own, The Lost Knight Weekly Open Mic is the place to go! See you there!
